Everybody Loves Dried Beef Gravy


You can’t beat this good-old fashioned classic! And it takes less than a half hour! I actually quadruple the following recipe (which is from the back of Esskay’s chipped beef*), from the beginning because I know there won’t be any left!


I like to serve this meal with a side of Cesar salad.


I buy the lower Sodium chipped beef to make this meal a tiny bit healthier.

Cook these slices in butter on the stove until the edges frizzle. What’s frizzling? Think Miss Frizzle’s hair from The Magic School Bus. 

Notice how the edges have crinkled up!


Blend in 2 tablespoons of flour. Slowly add 1 cup of milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. And it’s done! Serve over toast. But be careful to guard your food, the dogs absolutely LOVE this meal! They will even ignore their own food in the hopes for nabbing some Dried Beef Gravy! I mean, look how grumpy mine is when he isn’t given any table scraps!

  • 1 package of Esskay Lower Sodium Chipped Beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 tbsp of flour
  1. Slice up the chipped beef (I use a pair of scissors that I reserve just for slicing up food).
  2. Cook on stove in butter until edges frizzle.
  3. Stir in flour.
  4. Slowly add milk.
  5. Stir occasionally until thick.
  6. Serve on toasted bread.
