Spooky Halloween Tag

by halloween, spooky halloween tag

Hello, friends! It’s still Blogtober, so I’m going to keep posting Halloween stuff until the very last minute! I initially found this Spooky Halloween Tag on Peace.Love.Veggies and have seen variations of it on many other blogs. I think the Spooky Halloween tag originally had 30 questions, but somehow I ended up with 31, but that only seems fitting—one question for every day in October.

 1. Favorite horror or Halloween-themed song?

Am I the only one who thinks of Blink-182’s “I Miss You” as a Halloween song? Does that count?

 2. Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building.

A clown, hands down.

3. Have you ever used a Ouija Board?

No, no, no! And I NEVER will. I’m a firm believer in not meddling with the occult. Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop me from reading or asking about people’s experiences with Ouija boards and scaring the living daylights out of myself. I’m my own worst enemy.

4. Favorite horror monster or villain?

I really have to go with Samara from The Ring or the woman from The Grudge. Those movies emotionally scarred me and taught me that I am not okay with things crawling.

5. What is the creepiest thing that’s ever happened to you while you were alone?

So technically, I wasn’t alone for this, but I was the only one who witnessed it. I was on a field trip in Williamsburg, Virginia when I was in middle school. It’s supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the United States. Later that night, we would go on a class “ghost” tour, which really just involved the employees telling us kids scary stories while dressed in colonial costumes. But my creepy event was during the daytime tour. I particularly remember standing outside and clearly seeing a figure in colonial gear in the upstairs window of a building. Unprompted, the tour guide informed us that no one could actually go upstairs in the buildings because they were very old and were not structurally sound. I quickly looked back to point the figure upstairs out to someone else, only to see that it was gone. To this day, I have no idea what it was I saw. An employee in colonial uniform breaking the rules and sneaking upstairs or a ghost?

6. Are you superstitious?

Not really in the sense of breaking a mirror brings you seven years of bad luck.  I also would not hesitate to love on a black cat. I definitely don’t believe in borrowing trouble, however. For instance, I wouldn’t hop down into a freshly dug grave waiting for its occupant or knowingly move into a house where murders took place.

 7. Do you ever see figures in your peripheral vision?

Yes, but I’m pretty sure it’s because I have floaters/bad eyesight and constantly freak myself out by watching/reading/playing scary things.

8. Which urban legend scares you the most?

I’ve always hated Bloody Mary and the “light as a feather” crap that happened at sleepovers when I was young. I am also not a fan of the urban legend of the woman having a man in the backseat of her car with a knife.

9. Do you prefer gore or thrillers?

Thrillers, hands down. A lot of the times I feel that gore is just gratuitous.

10. If you were dared to spend the night in a haunted house, would you do it?

haunted house

Nope, nope, nope.  Absolutely not.

11. Do you believe in multiple dimensions or worlds?

I like to keep an open mind. I definitely think our universe is too large for Earth to be the only the life sustaining planet out there. And what with black holes and worm holes, I could definitely see there being multiple dimensions or worlds.

I’ve been meaning to read The Extra-Dimensionals : True Tales and Concepts of Alien Visitors, on this very subject, but of course I haven’t gotten around to it yet. It’s written by a former FBI agent and the real collector of the “X-Files.” I’ll get back to you on this once I’ve read it.

12. Ever made a potion of any sort?

Not unless you include salt water and warm water for a sore throat or brewing coffee.

13. Do you get scared easily?

Yes! When I first watched The Woman in Black in the middle of the night, my dog sneezed, and I screamed bloody murder.

14. Have you ever played Bloody Mary?

I’ve unfortunately been at sleepovers where my friends were playing it. I refused on account of being an absolute coward and also not wanting to meddle.

15. Do you believe in demons/the devil?

Yes, I do. I also believe that ghosts are demons manifesting as loved ones to torment us.

16. You’re home alone but you hear footsteps in your house, what do you do?

Protect my dogs at all costs. Grab my phone and lock as many doors as possible.

17. If you got trapped in one scary movie, which would you choose?

Um, are you kidding me? Absolutely none of them.

18.If you could only wear one Halloween costume for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A potato or a grandma because then I wouldn’t have to change much haha.

19. Would you ever go to a graveyard at night?

graveyard

I probably would, but not by myself.  I don’t find graveyards to be scary.

20. Would you rather go to a Halloween party of trick-or-treating?

If the Halloween party is something low-key like watching horror movies with friends, I’d love that. I’m more the type to sit at home playing horror games, watching horror movies, or reading horror books on my own though.

21. In a zombie apocalypse what is your weapon of choice?

If it were an actual zombie apocalypse, I’d really like something that would allow me to keep my distance while defending myself and simultaneously being extremely effective, like a shotgun.

22. You’re in a horror movie. Are you the first to die? The final girl standing? The comic relief? The skeptic? The smart one? The killer?

According to my Dead by Daylight track record, I would be the first one to die.

23. Do you have to watch something happy after watching a horror movie to help you sleep?

I feel attacked. Yes, absolutely.

24. Whilst watching scary movies are you the person yelling at the characters, the person with their eyes covered or the person who falls asleep?

I’m the person with their eyes covered!

25. Are you the one who gets scared or the one who does the scaring?

Undoubtedly, I am the one who gets scared. I am a very jumpy person and tend to shriek and stuff a lot. Typically every single jump scare in something horror gets me.

26. What is your favorite scary book?

Pet Semetary

It will probably always be Pet Semetary by Stephen King. If something scares me more than this, I’ll probably be dead.

27. How old were you when you saw your first horror movie?

My first time being absolutely horrified by a movie was when I was 13 or 14 and saw The Ring in movie theaters.

28. What was your first Halloween costume?

The one I remember most specifically was dressing up as a Dalmatian from 101 Dalmatians. Once a crazy dog lady, always a crazy dog lady.

29. What is your favorite Halloween movie?

As a kid, I really loved The Halloween Tree, which apparently no one has ever seen. I rented it this year to relive my childhood, so I’m going to go with that. I also really love It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. On the less wholesome, family friendly note, I love Shaun of the Dead, The Others, Signs, and 28 Days Later.

30. What are you going to be for Halloween this year?

Halloween Dogs

I am not dressing up, but my dogs are going to be salt and pepper shakers at their doggie daycare Halloween costume contest.

31. If you could have a Halloween-y pet (black cat, owl, bat, rat, wolf, raven) what would you pick?

Oh gosh, literally all of these appeal to me. Bats are adorable sky puppies and I love wolves, owls, and ravens too. I’ve never really interacted with rats much, but I’ve heard they’re extremely intelligent. Unfortunately, as much as I would love to own a black cat, I’m horribly allergic, so  that’s  sadly off the table.

I hope you all enjoyed reading the Spooky Halloween Tag as much as I enjoyed answering the questions! Feel free to tag me in your own answers!
