The End of the Year Gaming Tag 2021

I cannot believe it’s time for another End of the Year Post! I created the End of the Year Gaming Tag last year because I noticed that there’s so many End of the Year Book Tags and not a single one for gaming.

The Rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you and link to their post.
  • Link to the original creator: Kate @ Blogging with Dragons
  • Answer the questions. (I’ve included them at the bottom of this post for easy copy and pasting!)
  • Tag however many people as you want!

The Tag

What are you currently playing?

Skyrim Anniversary edition, a Minecraft realm with friends, Genshin Impact, and Animal Crossing off and on.

Are there any games you started this year that you need to finish?

I need to get back to Voice of Cards, but Skyrim has completely taken over my life.

Is there a new release or update you’re still waiting for?

I’m pretty excited for the rumored Xiao/Ganyu banners on Genshin Impact. Ganyu is my main and I’d love to grab more constellations for her, but I also have always wanted Xiao. The struggle is real.

Any other games you want to play before the end of the year?

Not really. I just want to keep playing Skyrim.

What game that was announced this year has you most excited?

I just saw the trailer for Sons of the Forest, and as I really enjoyed playing the first game with friends, I’m looking forward to this sequel. I am also hoping for the Star Wars games, Knights of the Old Republic remake, and Eclipse to rejuvenate my love for the franchise after the sequel trilogy crushed it.

What is your favorite Trophy/achievement that you’ve obtained this year?

I am really proud of my Platinum trophy for Persona 5 Strikers, that one was quite the grind. And I definitely had trouble getting into that game, so it was all around not the easiest Platinum to acquire. I was also really happy to get my first Platinum for a Tales of game, Tales of Arise. And I have to give an honorable mention to the Dragonborn DLC in Skyrim, which allowed me to ride dragons and get a trophy for it.

Did you purchase any new consoles or upgrades that made a difference in your gaming this year?

I did! I got a PS5. Boy, did that take a lot of perseverance. If you need help getting a next generation console yourself, I highly recommend you check out Jake Randall on both Twitter and Youtube. Jake’s tips and tricks, along with his endlessly positive attitude and outlook, are by far the reason I managed to snag my console for myself and for friends and family.

Have you changed any of your gaming habits this year?

I’d say that I played more single player games this year than in the previous year.

Who is your favorite character of the year?

Probably Shionne and Hootle from Tales of Arise.

What is your personal game of the year and why?

Skyrim Anniversary Edition has completely taken over my life, so I have to say it’s my Game of the Year, even though it’s not technically new. But I also really enjoyed Tales of Arise, though it wasn’t my favorite Tales of game, it was super exciting seeing the franchise on current gen and becoming popular (check out my review of the game for more of my thoughts, here). And I have to give an honorable mention to Voice of Cards, which though I haven’t finished it, provides such an amazing gameplay experience, soundtrack, and art style.

Have you already started making gaming plans for 2022? If so, what are they?

Mainly I want to finish a lot of the games I’ve started and not finished in 2022. This list includes Kena, Scarlett Nexus, SMT V, Voice of Cards, and Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition. I also want to start Atelier Ryza. Will I ever finish any games that I’ve started?
